Nga mihi aroha nui kia koutou,Assalaamu alaikum
The Nursing Council of New Zealand wish to express our aroha and heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the Muslim communities and the people of Christchurch who have lost loved ones following the atrocities on Friday afternoon.
We also thank the volunteers, nursing, medical, and emergency teams who provided care and support to patients and their families. Your aroha, care, bravery, courage, and professionalism during these times represents the very best of nurses at a time when nurses are needed most.
We would also like to acknowledge our Muslim-faith nurses and internationally qualified nurses across the country who are far away from home, knowing this tragedy has had a big impact on them and their families.
We encourage that you support one another and keep aroha in our hearts for our friends and whānau in Christchurch and for each other.
Nga mihi nui
To’a Fereti Chairperson, our Board, Cath Byrne Chief Executive, and staff of the Nursing Council of New Zealand
