Questions often asked by new graduates

Q: What is my exam candidate number?

A: Your examination entry slip, containing your unique candidate number, will be sent to you prior to the exam. Please make sure you keep it in a safe place and also write down the number somewhere else as a backup. You need the number and entry slip to get into the exam and to access your results.  If you have lost your exam number after the exam you won’t be able to access your results online but these will be posted to you.

Q: If my exam candidate number is not on the website, does that mean that I have failed?

A: It is possible, however, the website results are provisional only. The confirmed results are posted to all candidates.

Q: I have a Bachelor or Nursing/Nursing Diploma, can I work as a Health Care Assistant or caregiver while I wait for my State Exam results to come through?

A: Registered or enrolled nurses may work as a health care assistants or care givers but need to ensure that they are very clear that they only take on the health care assistant role as it is very easy to slip into undertaking a nursing role when you find yourself in this situation.  You cannot claim to be practising as a nurse or state or do anything suggesting you are practising nursing until you are registered and hold a current practising certificate.

Once you are registered it is possible that you may be held accountable under the HPCA Act even if you are working as a health care assistant or caregiver.
