Expected timeframes for the audit process

The Nursing Council usually sends out recertification audit information three months before your annual practising certificate expires.  This allows you six weeks to get your evidence to the Council by the due date.  This date is six weeks before your practising certificate expires to enable assessment of your information.  Your evidence is sent to an auditor (a nurse trained and skilled at assessment) who determines whether your evidence meets the audit requirements.  This usually takes two to three weeks.  Sometimes we need to ask you for more information which can delay the audit process. If your evidence does not meet the audit requirements this can delay the issuing of your practising certificate.  If you send your evidence late, you may not be issued with a new practising certificate before the expiry date.  Please contact audit@nursingcouncil.org.nz if you have concerns about these timeframes or wish to know how your audit is progressing.
