You will notice when applying for practising certificates that you will be asked for more details about your qualifications than you had been asked for in the past.
This is because the Council is required to have this information for the public register.
Under the Act, the Council is required to publish the register (s149). It must also allow for the inspection of the register (s150).The register is available via the Council's website and includes the following information:
-
nurse's name
-
particulars of her/his qualifications
-
scope of practice including any authorisations
-
any change to scope of practice
-
whether the nurse holds a practising certificate or an interim practising certificate (and expiry date)
-
date of registration or enrolment.
The Council does not publish any information that would breach the privacy considerations or personal security or safety of individual nurses such as their home address or phone number.
