1. I am registered in Australia, does this apply to me?
No, this process does not apply to nurses registered in Australia.

2. Where can I find information about the CGFNS application process?
  You will find information about the CGFNS application process on both the Nursing Council (NCNZ) and CGFNS websites from 15 October 2019.

3. How much is it going to cost?
The CGFNS Credentials Verification Service fee is US$300, the NCNZ application and assessment fee is NZ$485.

4. Where do I apply?
From 15 October 2019 applicants should apply to CGFNS to have their documents verified and authenticated. Details about the CGFNS application process will be available on both the Nursing Council (NCNZ) and CGFNS websites from <date after Close Out starts eg 1 Oct>. Once this step is complete, applicants will be notified that they are able to apply to the Nursing Council for assessment of registration.

5. Can I apply directly to NCNZ?
If you are currently registered in Australia with AHPRA, you can apply directly to NCNZ through the TTMR process. All other internationally qualified applicants must first apply through CGFNS.

6. How will this impact my future application?
The requirements for registration in NZ will stay the same. We hope that this change of process will result in quicker assessments and decisions (once all required documents have been received).

7. Why is the current application process closing? 
We are closing the application process from 30 September to 14 October 2019, to allow a smooth transition to a new process.

8. When can I apply?
From 15 October 2019 (NZST), 14 October 2019 (US EDT).

9. How long will this process take?
Document verification will take approximately 30 days once after all required documentation has been received by CGFNS. The NCNZ assessment and registration process is expected to take up to 20 working days. 

10. Do I still need to complete a competence assessment programme (CAP)?
Yes, this is still a part of the assessment process if needed.

11. I have an existing application; do I need to apply to CGFNS?
No, applications already received by NCNZ prior to 30 September 2019 will go through the current system.

12. Are there changes in the registration standards?
No, the New Zealand registration standards remain the same.

13. Will I need to sit a CGFNS examination?
No, this is not part of the process for NCNZ registration.
