Internationally qualified nurses with Australian registration

New application

The Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 has provisions for reciprocal registration between New Zealand and Australia.

Nurses who have current registration in Australia may apply for registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (the Council). The three scopes of practice that have mutual recognition are:

  1. Enrolled nurse
  2. Registered nurse
  3. Nurse practitioner

Conditions may be placed on an individual’s scope of practice to clarify the practice setting and or specify any other conditions determined by the Council.
