What is TTMR?

TTMR stands for the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997. This Act allows mutual registration for nurses between Australia and New Zealand.

I am registered as a nurse in Australia. Can I apply for TTMR?

Yes, if you are currently registered as a nurse in Australia or hold non practising registration. If your registration has lapsed, or you have never been registered in Australia, you cannot apply for registration under TTMR in New Zealand.

Do I need to electronically upload my documents?

Yes, you will be required to upload documents during the application process.

Who can verify my supporting documents?

Your documents must be certified as a true copy of the original by a lawyer/solicitor, Justice of the Peace, Notary Public, or other person authorized to make a statutory declaration.

Can my documents be certified outside of Australia?

Yes.

How long does the TTMR process take?

We aim to complete the assessment of your application within ten working days of receiving all required documentation.

I have conditions on my scope of practice, can I still apply?

Yes, you can still apply for registration in New Zealand.

Can I withdraw my application?

You can withdraw your application at any stage. However, any fees you pay are non-refundable.
